Originally from Dallas, Texas, David Allen Baker now calls southern
California home. A varied music career has taken him from Dallas to
Fairbanks (Alaska), Nashville, New York City and Los Angeles. He has
toured and performed as a vocalist with a number of artists, including
Robert John, Peter Rivera (of Rare Earth), the New Mamas and the Papas,
under the direction of John Phillips, the Surf City All-Stars featuring
Dean Torrance and others.
He performed at Carnegie Hall in January 2000 debuting the album 'Sounds of a Better World', performing with the likes of Martha Wash, Odetta, Jeffery Holder and the Tokyo String Quartet. You can now hear Baker performing regularly in and around the Los Angeles area.
Baker's recording career has consisted of innumerable song demos, records, corporate industrial productions, TV promos, in-show performances, radio jingles and TV advertisements ranging in styles from country to rock to folk to R&B. He co-wrote the Asahi Beer ad campaign for the Japanese market in 2002. Baker, along with disgustingly talented producer / songwriter / instrumentalist and vocalist, Rick Cowling, co-produced a solo CD for Baker in early 2002 entitled 'Ten For The Road' and songs or adaptations from that CD have been used in promos for NBC's Third Watch and in-show on NBC's Las Vegas. Baker has also been heard as a vocalist on CBS's The Guardian and The Agency, as well as on promos for the ABC show, Gideon's Crossing and in many cable television productions.
